Hi, my name is Charlene.
My brother Matthew, (46), was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour (glioblastoma).
Things have been in limbo since December, and now everything is moving fast. It’s serious—treatment might only give him a limited time, and surgery could change him in ways we just can’t predict.
Right now, the plan is still up in the air. There are six specialists involved, and they haven’t been able to decide whether surgery comes first or if radiation and chemo should start.
Either way, he’ll have a lot of travel ahead—4 hours to Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto for surgery if that’s the route, plus frequent trips to Windsor for radiation and other treatments.
Along with appointments, it’s a lot of energy and uncertainty—and a lot for him and the family to carry.
He has a wife who’s had to step away from work to care for him, and two adult kids still at home. It’s hard on all of them.
We’re not usually the type to ask for help, but the reality is this is going to come with extra costs—travel, gas, meals, time off, and just keeping day-to-day life going while he focuses on treatment.
If you can help, even a little, it would mean so much. If not, sharing this so more people know what’s going on would be amazing.
Right now, we’re just trying to keep things as steady as possible for him and his family while he faces something that’s anything but easy.
Thanks for being here.
