I’m trying to raise money for my brother Michael and his family who were residing in the upstairs unit at the apartment fire that happened the morning of 7/20 in midtown Reno. They were awoken by a loud commotion, which is now being investigated as a homicide, and shortly after screams of “fire”. They tried to escape they their front door, but the flames had already taken over. Their only option for survival was to jump from the second story window. Unfortunately my brothers girlfriend ended up braking both of her legs and will need multiple surgeries. Thankfully he was able to lower their 12 year old son to safely, but unfortunately they could not save their beloved dog who perished in the fire. I know that they will need a lot of support, since they’re already down on their luck due to Covid job loss and rent prices. This fire is being investigated as a homicide/arson and two people are deceased . Any help would be so appreciated if at all possible, they’ll need to purchase clothing, food, and necessities, since they lost what little they owned. Thank you so so much for your time
EDIT: I have raised our goal, in the hopes that these kind donations can be used for a down payment on a trailer in a Nice trailer park. We and the American Red Cross are trying desperately to place this family into a home, so they can get on with their lives, but in Renos current housing market, we’re finding that affordable housing or any housing really, is hard to come by and this is a dire situation. We have no other choice then to purchase something affordable like a trailer for them to get a hand up.
