My brother is living with MND, and every day is a grind.

It’s not just the big things it’s the constant build-up of small, daily challenges. Getting out of bed, eating, moving around the house things most people do without thinking, start to require planning, effort, and often someone else's help. There’s no pause button, no break, and no easing up.

He’s a dad to two daughters, aged 15 and 9. His life has always revolved around them — family holidays, showing up for every moment, and doing everything he could to give them the best. MND has changed what he can do, but not who he is as a father.

A little about The Matt Gallagher Foundation

The Matt Gallagher Foundation is a passionate and committed nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting people affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND) across the UK. Recognising the challenges of a rare condition like MND — including the limited number of specialists nationwide — the foundation focuses on practical, impactful solutions. One of its core fundraising goals is to fund an additional permanent NHS MND specialist nurse for the West Midlands, improving access to regular, localised support. The foundation’s mission is clear: to ensure that every person diagnosed with MND receives the care, guidance, and encouragement they need to stay hopeful and supported throughout their journey.

To raise money for the foundation, I’m taking on a daily challenge:

30 days consecutively starting from 9th May 2025

️‍♂️ 50 reps of 100kg bench press

‍♂️ 3 miles – 2.5-mile run, followed by a 0.5-mile sprint

I will document this each day and keep a record.

This is my way of showing up for my brother, and for everyone living with MND.
