Help! My brother was a victim in a hit and run.

My name is Valentina. In the early hours of November 28th, my brother Alessandro was the victim of a hit and run. He was walking home and had the right of way when he was hit by a speeding car while crossing the street. They left him for dead with a broken leg and potential fracture in his cervical spine after being knocked head first into the concrete. Thankfully he was able to call 911 and was helped by a witness on the scene. We are lucky he is alive.

 

Alessandro is so strong, but he is struggling. He needs our help. He is going to have ongoing hospital bills and medical bills as well as higher than normal living costs due to his limited ability to walk and take care of his basic needs.  It is breaking my heart seeing him like this. I am so grateful and happy he is ALIVE. We're not sure of the total hospital bill, legal bill and aftercare bill yet, but I just know it's going to be a lot. He experienced a loss of income from a job he was transitioning out of due to the incident He has been in the hospital since Sunday and is recovering from surgery now. He will have several more overnight stays before he is finally discharged. Alessandro just accepted a new position teaching computer science to black/latinx/native high school students. This accident is going to affect his mobility. Please keep in touch; I know Ale would appreciate it so much. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. If you know him, you know how special he is. Alessandro makes you feel loved, and you can talk to him about anything. We love his humor, his laugh, and most importantly his strength. Ale, I couldn't imagine life without your daily phone calls, your smile, your cute selfies...your presence is everything. That was almost taken from us.
