My brother, Steven Matross
Donation protected
On Tuesday, August 8th, my brother Steven had an epileptic seizure while walking to work from his home. Unfortunately, the resulting fall caused him to hit his head on the concrete. Thankfully, some nearby pedestrians saw him go down and contacted medical professionals.
After assessment at St Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana, it was identified that beyond skull fractures, he also has two small brain bleeds, some pockets of blood around his brain, as well as brain swelling. Helena does not have a neurosurgeon, so the decision was made to fly him to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.
He remains at Benefis currently. While he has thankfully not needed surgery, due to the blood around his brain and swelling, he has needed to stay in the ICU for observation. Once he can be released, he will need to complete neuro-rehabilitation as a result of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
While he does have medicaid, he will still need assistance with the resulting medical bills. In addition, until released to work, he will be unable to bring in income to afford rent, power, cellphone (his primary method of communication with friends and family as well as recreation), food and other sundry bills and such.
While our family wishes we could simply take care of all of these things for Steven, it well exceeds what we are able to provide. We are hoping to get your help. We have set the goal relatively low, about two months of his month bills. Everything raised will be going to Steven and hopefully we can do more than just his monthly bills..
