My brother Nicolas
Donation protected
On 9/21/2022, my brother Nic’s 42nd birthday, he arrived to my house seemingly sick after work. I inquired about how Nicolas was feeling and he mentioned he thought he hurt his leg, perhaps hitting it on the coffee table at home earlier in the morning. After some inspection, I encouraged him to go to Urgent Care. He is without medical insurance currently. He assured me he just needed to go home and see how it transpired throughout the night. By mid morning the next day, it was very clear he needed emergency care. Within hours after arriving to the ER, Nicolas was rushed to emergency surgery to remove what the doctors and surgeons diagnosed as “flesh eating bacteria” or Necrotizing fasciitis in his lower leg/calf. After four surgeries, bags of IV antibiotics and other meds, the surgeons saved his life and saved his leg. Nicolas will need extensive skin graphs, PT, OT, out patient wound care, a wound Vac and a possibly more surgery in the near future. The pain is excruciating even with pain meds, due to exposed nerves. Nicolas is a single Father of two and I’m starting this fund for him, his children and our family as we embark on a long road of recovery. The medical bills alone are stressful enough, and as a family we are encouraged to take steps to reach out to our community, to our workplaces and to our network near and far for support. Nicolas takes great pride and care as a private chef for our local Priory and wishes to return as soon as possible to work as the Sisters miss him and his food terribly. My hope is to take away some of the financial burden of bills and also continue to put groceries on his table for my Nephew and Neice.
On behalf of my brother and our family, I thank you in advance for any donations that can help us during this trying time.
