My Brother Luka's battle with a rare Cancer

Hi and thank you for coming to my GoFundMe page in support of my brother and his fight against cancer.

For those of you who don't know me... my name is Travis Ludlow and I have set up this page for my brother Luka who has been diagnosed with a very rare and incurable cancer.

Luka is 15 years old and prior to two months ago he had no symptoms. That all changed in early July, when he started swelling up and my Mum took him to the doctors; he suspected Glandular Fever, so the doctor sent him to the famous Stoke Mandeville Hospital, near where we live. After lots of tests and a CT scan, we were told that there were three masses, further biopsies gave them the devastating news that Luka had a rare and incurable cancer.

Luka has ACTH-secreting, high-grade, neuroendocrine carcinoma... a cancer that is so rare in children that we only know about one other child with it in the UK. Even amongst adults, the average age is 60 and only 1 in 2.8 million get it.

It took a long time to get Luka stabilised before he could start chemotherapy, as the tumors caused Cushings disease, but now he is about to start his third round of chemotherapy at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

I am raising money for Lukas chosen cause, the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation, as well as raising money for Luka and my family, so that they can share some memorable experiences as he fights this awful disease. I also want to be able to fly home when ever I can, to support him, while he goes through his treatments.

This has had a traumatic impact on the whole family but my brother is the strongest person in the family, with such a wonderful kind and giving personality. Luka is not giving up and we as a family, will fight this awful cancer all the way. With your support, we can help Luka fight this by taking away the other issues he and my family are having to deal with and give him the best time we can. You will also be donating to the research, so that hopefully others won't have to endure what Luka and my family are having to go through.

MY EVENT - 'LIVE FOR LUKA'

Luka will be 16 on the 17th September and I will be shaving my head in support of him, and to match his hair style (I think he looks better bald then I will). I hope many of my fellow students will be there to cheer me on... but for those that can't be there, I will be streaming it 'LIVE for Luka' back home.
