Dear friends
How do I begin….
My world shook on March 4th 2019, when I learned I have a cancerous tumor in my right breast. It all began a few weeks earlier, when I randomly felt a lump but didn’t give it much thought as I had a clear mammogram 2 month prior.
Still, not one to ignore something like that, I did check it eventually and was smacked in the face with the news so many women around the world hear everyday. 1 In 8 actually. Crazy!
So 14 days after I learned my cancer is a stage 1, triple negative (fast growing and aggressive) tumor, I was on the operating table, being sliced open to remove the tumor from my right breast + 7 lymph nodes from my underarm.
I’m now starting the long road down Chemo Blvd. Trying so desperately to make sense of this strange new reality. For the next 5 months, every aspect of my life is about to change – focusing on one goal:
KICKING CANCER ASS!
In my hour of need, I look for guidance or role models to draw inspiration from, to understand better what I’m facing or what I should pay attention to, but can’t seem to find ‘my cup of tea’…
A bit about me:
Born 1968, Australian mother of 2 (age 8 and 4), recently moved to TLV, lived in Tokyo for most of my life as Miss Marilyn owner of Boudoir Day Spa. Addicted to gay men , cool sounds, dark humor, stilettos, fitness, healthy eating, my husband, my kids and anything fabulous darling!
After more than 20 years in Tokyo, I moved to Tel Aviv 2 years ago. Its hard to forge new friendships. I’ve met many lovely people here, but I don’t have a long enough history with anyone yet – a comfort zone where can open-up and share real emotions.
Back to the topic at hand - Inspiration - if I want something done right, I’m gonna do it myself!
I’m about to create a Colorful, Fun, Real, Wholesome, Empowering, Insightful and LOUD YouTube channel, to share my journey with like-minded people faced with breast cancer.
And who can help me better then my friends ?!?
Need your help with lights, camera, backdrop, medical wigs, etc, etc, etc – or, a small donation. Since I can’t work as my treatments are too close together losing. A salary is hard on us. I do get a small amount from the government but as cancer costs are coming in we might find it hard. My current financial situation does not allow alternative(which my insurance doesn’t cover) cancer treatments or therapeutic experiences, so with your help I pledge to create the best content I possibly can, covering personal diary, food, fitness tips, sex, meditation, beauty, preventative treatments, kids, product reviews, medical marijuana, makeup tutorial, drag and more, in honor of you my dear friends who can make it all possible!
Having a project to focus on will keep me accountable. Motivate me to get off my ass and educate, inspire and empower myself and others, and to take away the loneliness by having contact with others through social media. You have no idea how much all the comments keep me going and smiling everyday!
Some of my personal journey already been documented, check it out Instagram/fift_50 or YouTube/Miss Marilyn The C Word
Your support will enable me to scale my vision on a more professional level and help channel my loneliness and lack of friends in this new city into a creative passion and a reason to improve myself and others.
I love you all and I thank you for following this journey with me.
Wish me luck.
