My Birthday Wish: Hurricane Agatha Relief
Donation protected
Hi it’s Larry and for my birthday this month I am asking for donations to benefit a local community who has lost everything in the wake of Hurricane Agatha, the region's strongest hurricane on record.
I started going to Zipolite, Oaxaca, a couple of years ago, and although lately it's become a hip destination for travelers to enjoy its nude beaches, nightlife and robust bohemia, I've fallen in love with the people who grew up there, live and work there, and who have taken me in to teach me Spanish, share culture, laughs and mole. It's become a nurturing, second home.
Some of the things shared are how to live off the land, how to live in general, unselfishly and as a community. So many of these people have little in terms of possessions, and due to Hurricane Agatha now have lost even these things, especially shelter and access to safe water and transportation - roads have been washed out, food access has slowed and debris has flooded every facet of the landscape and sea. Hay muchisimo por hacer.
I honestly could care less about the tourists, but it’s the people who live and work here who suffer.
Any consideration of funds is appreciated, no contribution is too small ($10? $5?), and all will go to a Zipolite native who is working to raise and distribute money for food, water and tools for cleanup to bring the area back to a working community.
Thank you for reading, and let me know how I can return the favor.
