For my birthday this year, I’m not wishing for gifts, parties, or presents.

I’m wishing for second chances.

I’m wishing for healing.

I’m wishing for hope.

I’m wishing for help for the animals who need it most.

Right now, two very special little souls remind me why this work matters so much.

Meet Blackie

Blackie is a sweet 10-week-old kitten who showed up at our sanctuary hungry, frightened, and badly hurt. We rushed her to our veterinarian, hoping for the best. Sadly, her front leg was beyond repair and had to be amputated.

It was heartbreaking—but it saved her life.

Today, Blackie is recovering. She’s eating well. She’s drinking well. She’s learning how to be a playful, happy kitten again—on three legs. She has a long road ahead, but she will be surrounded by love, comfort, and care every step of the way until she’s ready for her forever home.

Meet Lucky

Lucky is a precious blonde kitty who was heartlessly left behind when his owners moved away. Cold, confused, and hungry, he had nowhere to go.

We took him in immediately. We warmed him. We fed him. We promised him he would never be abandoned again.

But Lucky is suffering. His mouth is in pain, making it hard for him to eat. He desperately needs extensive dental work, blood tests, and a full physical exam so he can heal and thrive.

Why We Need Your Help

As you know, at Carlsbad Cares, we do everything in our power to help animals in need. We never turn away those who are suffering if there is any way we can help them.

But right now, our medical fund is dangerously low.

And the need never stops.

Last year alone, we helped:

• Over 200 kittens

• 14 turtles

• 2 rats

• Several dogs

• Many ducks and chickens

Every life mattered. Every life was worth saving.

And this year, we want to keep going.

But we can’t do it alone.

My Birthday Wish

For my birthday, I’m asking you to help us refill our medical fund so we can continue providing:
