Help with Vet Bills - Nala Has Cancer!
Donation protected
Hi Everyone!
I need your help!
I rescued Nala from Sacramento, CA in 2012 at the age of 8 weeks old! She has been by my side every day since. She is my "person." She is my emotional support dog. She is my snuggle buddy, my bodyguard, and my best friend.
Everyone who has met her has instantly fallen in love with her. She is the epitome of what a well-raised and well-loved pittie is capable of. I have never hesitated to drop any amount of money on her. She has had the best health care, I cook for her, she gets vitamins and natural treats, and some might call her spoiled!
Over the years, Nala had many skin breakouts that I was told were just "fatty deposits" and shouldn’t worry. I asked multiple times to have them tested or removed and I was told no, they aren't bothering her and since it was just in the epidermis of her skin, that I had nothing to worry about it. They told me it was allergies and put her on multiple medications, but these "bumps" all over her body never really went away.
A few years ago, she had her first ACL surgery on her back leg. During 2020, she had to have the ACL on her other back leg repaired. In December, I decided to take Nala to new vet to get a second opinion about her recovery. While going over Nala's history, I pointed out the numerous bumps. However, THIS VET, finally said, that the bumps didn't look right and wanted to have them tested.
Right before Christmas, Nala was diagnosed with 2 types of Cancers. She underwent surgery the beginning of January (a little over $2k) to remove two large tumors, one from each of her sides, a blood blister (which also turned out to be cancer), and another growth that was benign (thankfully).
This week, Nala and I met with oncology and we have a long road ahead of us. The Doctor is recommending a full CT scan to try and find any other tumors in her body. This will give us a chance to fully biopsy anything we do find and give us an accurate count of how many more surgeries we might be expecting.
Today’s appointment was $400. The next appointment is $2,000, and the Oncologist is projecting at least 2 more surgeries. I would appreciate any help you would be kind enough to give. I refuse to give up on her! I want to make sure I can continue to take care of her, regardless of the cost. I’m not ready to let her go!
If there is any money left after her treatment, I will happily donate it K9 For Warriors (k9sforwarriors.org).
Thank you all for taking time to read about me and Nala, and thank you for your support!
