My baby boy has cancer again.
I’ve seen GoFundMe create miracles for people who desperately needed one.
Today, with all the humility in my heart, I’m asking for one of those miracles.
WHO BRUNO IS — OUR JOY, OUR ANGEL, OUR CONSTANT COMPANION
If you’ve ever been loved by a truly special dog, you understand.
If you haven’t, let me introduce Bruno — the sweetest, most loving soul we’ve ever known.
Bruno isn’t “just a dog.”
He is our family, our best friend, our emotional support, and the brightest light in our home.
He is 65 lbs. of pure love and gentle energy.
He has big, soulful eyes that look at us like we’re his entire world. His gaze isn’t just attention — it’s communication, devotion, and gratitude.
When he runs, he doesn’t simply run — he gallops like a horse, elegant and joyful. People stop and smile when they see him move.
When we are sad or stressed, he comes close, rests his head on our chest, and gives slow, tender licks that feel like healing. He has a gift for sensing emotion and offering comfort exactly when it’s needed.
He is one of the most educated, behaved, intuitive dogs you will ever meet:
• He travels with us on airplanes like a gentleman
• He sits quietly in movie theaters as if he understands
• He senses emotions instantly
• He knows when to guard, when to comfort, and when to simply be present
• Everyone who meets him falls in love instantly
He is a certified service dog, but even without the title, he serves with his heart.
HIS PERSONALITY — PURE GOOFINESS AND PURE LOVE
Bruno is also wonderfully silly.
He LOVES to play fetch… but has never learned to give the ball back.
He’ll run full speed, grab it, and then show off as if saying:
“Look how amazing I am!” But return it? Never.
He sits by the window for hours watching birds. He never barks — he just admires them like a tiny philosopher.
He adores his cat brother, Kardec. They snuggle, play, and groom each other. Bruno lets him steal toys, the bed, and even snacks. He is pure tenderness.
Every person and animal in our home receives a different, beautiful expression of his love.
Bruno is the definition of a gentle giant.
HIS FIGHT— THIRD CANCER IN 3 YEARS
Bruno is only 7, and he has already endured three cancer surgeries on the same leg.
• First tumor: Mast cell, Grade 2
• Second tumor: Grade 2
• Third tumor (recent): Grade 3 — the most aggressive type
We barely avoided amputation last time.
Bruno is currently under the care of the oncology team at the Animal Cancer Care Clinic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After reviewing his biopsy and surgical margins, the oncologist told us that he must begin chemotherapy and radiation immediately if we want to save his life.
He just went through major surgery. The biopsy results were devastating.
But Bruno still smiles. He still wags his tail.
He still looks at us with unconditional love, trusting that we will protect him. We owe him our absolute best fight.
THE COSTS WE CANNOT COVER ALONE
We have already spent over $5,000 just on his most recent surgery, tests, imaging, and medications to get him to this point.
These are the real, urgent costs ahead:
• Chemotherapy: $8,000
• Radiation therapy: $12,000–$18,000
• Bloodwork, imaging, medications, follow-ups: $3,000–$6,000
He has an excellent oncology team ready to begin right away.
But we cannot afford the treatments fast enough.
I’ve been selling everything I own — furniture, valuables, belongings — but recent financial hardship makes it impossible to gather the full amount in time.
And every day we wait… the cancer grows.
WHY WE'RE ASKING FOR HELP
Bruno has saved us emotionally more times than we can describe.
He has comforted us through heartbreak, illness, financial struggles, and the hardest moments of life.
He still has so many years ahead.
He still wants to gallop like a horse.
He still wants to guard the window.
He still wants to play fetch (without giving the ball back).
He still wants to love, protect, and bring joy.
We are not ready to lose him.
He is not ready to leave this world.
We are doing everything humanly possible… and with humility, we are asking for help to give him a chance.
IF YOU CAN HELP — IN ANY WAY — THANK YOU
Whether you can donate $5, $10, $20, or simply share this campaign…
It could literally save Bruno’s life.
Your help will give him:
• More sunsets
• More silly games
• More airplane rides
• More cuddles with his cat brother
• More slow-healing licks
• More joy to spread into the world
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for caring.
Thank you for giving our Bruno the chance at life he deserves.
With love and endless gratitude,
The Chávez Family
