My Aunt and Uncle in the ICU in Nepal with COVID
As life in North America is seemingly getting back to normal, in Nepal only 9% of the population are vaccinated.
Amongst ongoing restrictions preventing my family from earning enough money to afford their monthly payments on their home, my family contracted covid leaving my Mama and Thulo Maiju (Uncle and Auntie in Nepali) in critical condition. My Thulo Maiju has been in a coma and on a ventilator for over a week with her oxygen levels below 40% total capacity, and while my Mama's condition was more stable the last week, it turned worse in the last day sending him to the ICU as well.
It's is extremely hard to hear about this from across the world and we are left feeling helpless. This is all with the understanding that, for them to recover in hospital it is estimated that it will cost $35 000 CAD per person in medical fees. With the payments on the house already falling a few months behind and the Covid-19 Delta variant spreading through the unvaccinated country preventing my family from earning money, this $70 000 medical bill will be extremely difficult to overcome.
We are asking anyone who is able to help our family in this time to please donate. We are asking a lot but please know that nothing is too little and we appreciate everyone who even spent the time reading and learning about our situation.
Thank you and Namaste,
Pasang, Kamala and Family
