My Aunt is in Need of Assistance
Donation protected

On the 18th of September at around 8:50pm, my aunt, Angel Vella, was at home when she heard the fire alarm in her apartment complex. Shortly after, she heard screaming from her next door neighbour, who was calling for help. Whilst many of the other tenants fled to safety downstairs and outside of the building, my aunt instantly dropped everything and rushed to assist her elderly neighbour. That is the kind of person she is. The apartment next door had caught fire and it was spreading rapidly; her neighbour was unable to contain it. My aunt took charge, rushing back and forth, filling a small container with water, hoping to put out the flames. Eventually though, she realised the fire was beyond control, as the flames had fully enveloped the bedroom and were spreading throughout the apartment, endangering them both. Thinking quickly and wanting to ensure that they could both exit the apartment safely, she closed off the area and moved to evacuate the elderly neighbour, regardless of the fact that the woman was refusing to leave and placing them both in greater danger. After she received assistance rescuing the woman, she assisted with the evacuation of another resident, whilst the fire officers attended to the fire which had completely become out of control.
It is extremely fortunate that everyone survived the ordeal, but sadly the entire top floor of the complex, including my aunt’s apartment, was badly damaged. As a result, my aunt has lost most of her belongings, including her of clothingand furnishings along with her personal possessions.
Sadly, due to poor health as a result of a combination of complex health issues, my aunt has been unable to work for the past fifteen years. She lives day to day on a very tight budget. She does not have insurance to cover the loss of her belongings. It is really unfortunate that through no fault of her own she has lost everything.
I realise that in the current year, many are struggling, however I would be extremely thankful if those who are able, make a donation to my aunt’s gofundme campaign. Every donation, however small, will help to get her back on her feet. Her selfless response to a neighbour in need, shows how kind, caring and community minded she is and how deserving she is of our support and our assistance.
Please make a donation but if you are can’t, then please share my aunt’s story on your social media platforms. If you are unable to donate, I do understand given the current circumstances many are in during 2020, and I wish you all the best. I just hope to assist her in putting her life back together: she truly does needs your help.
Thank you for your support,
