My Aunt Died of COVID and Her Family Needs Help
Donation protected
My Uncle Hank died last Tuesday and my Aunt Annette died on Saturday, so my Mom lost a brother and a sister to COVID in less than a week. While Hank was a quiet, solitary person, Annette was the heart of our family, everyone's default second mom. Their deaths have gutted us.
My aunt had no business being as warm and as welcoming as she was because my grandma was such a strict and hard person (sorry, Grandma, don't hate), but warm and welcoming she was! We had virtually every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas at her house, as well as several weddings. Always hard working and in good spirits, everyone was always welcome at her home. She even invited a stranger inside one Christmas Eve that turned out to be at least a little mentally unstable (my sister-in-law Stacy grabbed a knife in case things went sideways. He left eventually, and followed me on Instagram). She was an amazing mom to four daughters and loved her four grandkids with the strength of a 1000 suns.
She was relatively young and in good health so her death is as shocking as it is awful, and her husband John (also recovering from COVID) is obviously wrecked. Aside from losing his wife of almost 30 years, he's also worried about money. Their house burned down a couple of years ago and though insurance covered a lot of it, they still had to take out loans. They have bills and a mortgage and all the financial responsibilities that come with being a working-class family. Her youngest daughter is a senior in high school, so college is on the horizon.
I started this GoFundMe to buy my Uncle John a little time, 6-12 months to mourn my aunt properly; to not have to worry about selling his house while he puts his life back to together. I understand these are hard times for most people, but I loved my aunt very much, and the least I could do was try and help out the people she loved the most. I will never ask you for money to make a comedy album (what's that?) or a movie (I'm looking at you Zach Braff) and my tv writer friends said they'd pay for my funeral if I die prematurely (please hold them to that). So if you have an extra $5 or $10 or $20 bucks, it would be greatly appreciated and I would honestly thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you're broke, sharing this will be just as good. Thank you for reading and thank you for spreading the word!
