Hi, my name is Carl. I'm a husband. I'm a father of 3 and a grandfather of 5. I'm a Navy Veteran and a nurse for 30+ years. 

In 2022 I found out I have a genetic disease called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD). This is a rare disorder which has caused my liver cirrhosis; the ONLY treatment for this disorder is a liver transplant. 

Since March 2022, my Healthcare costs have skyrocketed in spite of having medical insurance. I have exhausted my savings and maxed out my credit cards.

My medical bill for just the testing and preparation for my liver transplant has reached $55k. I have now been listed to receive a new liver and will be headed to Arizona for my transplant and the costs will be in excess of $150,000.
