My 65th Birthday Wish--A Soft Landing
Donation protected
About 3 months ago, my friends launched a GoFunMe campaign for my emergency relocation from Berkeley to beautiful, tiny Viroqua, Wisconsin. While I was packing up my Uhaul truck, towards the end of June, having about 2000 books, several bookcases, exercise equipment, bulk foods, and more--got STOLEN. After two months, the stolen and totaled truck was recovered. a lot of items were missing: musical instruments, food, and furniture. all of the items besides the books were utterly destroyed in the crash that also killed the stolen truck. This has extended my complete migration by many months, wiped out my fundraising cushion, requiring me to take out $4,000 in emergency loans, just to remain broke, and compromised my ability to schedule clients in my clinical healing arts and social justice consulting practices. My expenses have finally stabilized, but I am deep in debt and well short of the minimal operating capital I need to set up my practice in the Midwest. If I can raise $5,000 more, I can move my recovered 40 boxes back to the Midwest and fully and finally establish myself there, and visit my permanently disabled son in California, a time or two before the year is out.
I am asking any and all friends, fans, and supporters to help me celebrate my 65th birthday with a gift that can help me to complete my transition to Viroqua, WI, and have a few days respite in writing retreat to work on my ongoing memoir (a sample chapter is included in the list below). My work, with the current title, "Stubborn Wonder" is the story of a boy who had a mystical encounter with the whole Earth and its setting in the cosmos as a 7-year-old boy, and how the cosmic sense of life has lived in him and shaped him to the present day. him to the present day. It is a work-in-progress of "autocosmology," a term coined by Ursula LeGuin and brought back into use by on of my most important university teachers, Brian Swimme, a mathematical cosmologist who has challenged/invited/incited me to follow in his footsteps. As a scientist, Brian has told the story of the Universe as revealed by cutting-edge science and deliberately and artfully included the story of the Universe's storyteller in the cosmological narrative. It has been my mostly secret passion to share this cosmic sense of life with others, but I have never dared to until now. If you would like to participate in this project through financial support, I would love to share my unfolding chapters with all of you, my friends and allies. It is an "out-of-the-box" work, but telling the story of the universe, through and as "The Universe, Victor Lee Lewis department," is the most truthful act I have ever undertaken. your support would be gratefully accepted. Where Brian Swimme tells the Universe Story through the lens and life of a mathematical physicist, I am to tell it as a "street cosmologist" from the hood, an educator, activist, and spirit-led working-class, Black man who has been secretly possessed by the big Universe and its mysterious intent that he would serve.

This is a preamble to my story of a much bigger opening to the universe that I have written about in another context and will share, as soon as I have permission from the expected publisher, "The Ecozoic Journal."
