My 125th Half Marathon for My Twin Brother Steve

On Sunday, the 11th of September, I will be completing my 125th half marathon in Newcastle at the Great North Run on behalf of my twin brother Steve. I want to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the charity Scleroderma & Raynaud's UK, the disease he sadly passed away from earlier this year.

Steve and I have always loved running and have completed almost 100 half marathons together since our twenties! In fact, our very first one was the Great North Run back in 1985! Even when Steve's health began to decline and he could not take part in the physical running side anymore, he remained my other solid and essential half. He always supported me whenever I was completing runs solo - including cheering me on down a microphone for a radio broadcast with extreme excitement! His support and motivation are something I hold very dear to me, and I know that he will be there with me in his enthusiastic spirit every step of the way.

Steve was a kind, funny and caring person who always enjoyed life to the full no matter what. If you had ever had the pleasure of meeting him, you would've resonated with his warmth, humour and positivity within seconds. Loved dearly by his family and friends, he will always be with us in our hearts.
