Hi everyone,
This May, I’m taking on a personal challenge to cycle 100 miles to raise vital funds for Nerve Tumors UK.
For me, this isn’t just a fitness goal—it’s personal. I was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) when I was just 7 years old. For the last 13 years, my life has involved a constant cycle of MRI scans, PET scans, and consultations with numerous specialists to monitor the condition.
Living with NF1 requires resilience and constant vigilance. After everything I’ve been through over the last decade, I want to give back. I’m riding these 100 miles to support the incredible research and support networks that help people like me navigate the complexities of this condition.
What is NF1?
Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) is a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow along the nerves. While these tumors are usually non-cancerous (benign), they can grow anywhere in the body and cause a variety of health issues, including:
Physical challenges: Such as bone deformities or curvature of the spine (scoliosis).
Neurological issues: Including learning difficulties or vision problems.
Tumor growth: Which often requires frequent monitoring through high-tech imaging like MRIs and PET scans.
Currently, there is no cure for NF, which is why research is so critical.
Why I’m Raising Money
I’m raising money for Nerve Tumors UK(The Neurofibromatosis association), an organization dedicated to providing support for those affected by NF and funding the research needed to improve treatments.
Every mile I cycle represents the journey those of us with NF1 take every day. Whether you can donate £5 or £50, every penny goes directly toward making life better for the NF community.
If you can’t donate, a simple share of this page would mean the world to me.
Thank you for your support, your kindness, and for helping me hit the road for a cause that matters.
Let’s make every mile count!
