More information about the Megan Hurley Foundation:

Megan Hurley will never be forgotten, she was a bright, innocent and caring 15 year old who loved life until it was so cruelly taken away from her, along with 21 others during the horrific terror attack at the Manchester Arena on 22nd May 2017. Those who had the privilege to meet Megan will know what a loving and beautiful girl she was, Megan was well known for her caring nature and loved to help others.

Megan’s parents, Joanne and Mike Hurley have set up the Megan Hurley Foundation to make sure that Megan is remembered in a positive way as the fun loving beautiful daughter she was and the charity will uphold Megan’s strong values to help others, as well as ensuring her name will live on.

Megan’s parents, Michael and Joanne Hurley were a hardworking, self-employed family - running a popular local sandwich shop for over 9 years. Their world was torn apart on 22nd May 2017 when they lost their much-loved daughter Megan. Their son, Bradley, aged 20, was also critically injured in the terror attack at the Manchester Arena.

During the attack Bradley suffered two broken legs and multiple other injuries , causing him to spend over a month in Manchester Royal Infirmary Hospital with his Mum and Dad at his bedside. Joanne and Michael eventually returned home with their son and dedicated their lives to his rehabilitation, having no option but to close the family business.

Anyone who has suffered a loss will know that there are unplanned expenses and further, there is little support for the self-employed. The Megan Hurley Foundation will aim to provide initial short-term help and support to self-employed families, unable to attend work (and therefore have no income) - due to the sudden and unexpected loss of a child. The Megan Hurley Foundation may also provide help and support to other good cause that will benefit children. The Trustees will agree eligibility for those requiring help and support.
