One week ago, my 12-year-old nephew, Devon Reed Jr., experienced a severe asthma attack at school that led to a sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to the swift actions of medical professionals, he was resuscitated, but his journey to recovery has been arduous. Junior underwent emergency open-heart surgery, alongside other critical procedures, and is currently in recovery at the hospital. His parents have been steadfastly by his side, but the physical, emotional, and financial toll on our family has been immense.
