Leg up

So, there I was, a sunny Sunday afternoon and I see this tiny pimple... or so I thought. By Tuesday it was more than a tiny pimple and it was red and sore up and down my left thigh. I let it go and Wednesday we went to Urgent Care where they gave me a bandaid and antibiotics and told me on 24hrs it would be healed! Friday morning I took my son to school and my mom brought me to the ER, I'm currently writing this on Monday morning from my hospital bed where I've been since Friday afternoon. They told me if I had waited any longer this would be a completely different discussion due to my diabetes and the severity of my "pimple". My little pimple was an infected hair follicle which turned into a case of cellulitis from my groin to my knee. I am now looking at wound care and a long recovery. I switched jobs so I was able to work 1st shift and be home with my son instead of working 2nd shift and missing everything. While it is ideal, it is only ideal when I am healthy and able to work. The doctors told me I would be light duty or off for several weeks to ensure it heals correctly and not have to do any surgery to remove anything such as extra tissue or an entire leg. This cellulitis is not fun, especially when it's paired with diabetes. I miss working but I also know I would miss my leg more. I am not the type to ask for handouts but I have reached my breaking point and with Christmas around the corner and a single mom with no assistance, here I am. I want to be able to keep a roof over our heads and presents under his tree. The medical bills will be flowing in and I'm already overwhelmed with everything lately.
