Monica was raised in Romania until she was 27 years old. After she graduated  her university degree and masters program she decided to move to Canada. She married Alin Demian in January 2009 and since May 2009 she has been living in Calgary Alberta with her husband.

In August 2017 Monica was diagnosed with stage IV (four) ovarian cancer and life as she knew it transformed drastically over night. A routine doctor’s appointment transformed into a series of medical appointments and complicated procedures, pre-operatory tests and multiple scans. After two months of tests and procedures, on October 6th, she underwent a complex surgery to remove the massive tumor and a number of other organs.

She passed away last night in Toronto hospital . Her last wish was to be buried in Romania.
