About a year ago, our dear friend & neighbour, Jeff Widas, was whisked to Emergency after suffering a heart attack in his home. It was found that he had almost 100% blockage in both sides of his heart. Jeff underwent months of treatment, including an induced coma for 5 weeks, having an LVAD (almost like a mechanical heart) implanted, and ultimately 6 months later, was fortunate enough to receive a heart transplant. The doctors and staff at St Paul's Hospital refer to Jeff as the Miracle Man, as he overcame odds time and again. We are all so thankful that he is still with us today, however Jeff still has mountains to climb in his recovery. Because of being bed-ridden for a year, Jeff's muscles atrophied leaving him extremely thin and frail.


He has also lost the feeling in one leg and foot, making it impossible for him to stand on his own and walk. But, there is hope! Jeff has been fitted for custom braces for both legs, which will help him walk again. The catch is, these cost a ton of money. Jeff has also finally come home from the hospital now, a year later, and his sweet mother and triplet daughters are caring for him there. So, in addition to the cost of the braces, his home needs modifications to be wheelchair-friendly, and a stair lift needs to be installed to allow Jeff to get upstairs to a bedroom he hasn't been able to reach as of yet. Let's rally together and help Jeff along his road to recovery. Our goal is to raise enough money to pay for his leg braces, a stair lift, and the wheelchair home modifications!  Jeff is so thankful for all the support and the visits he received while in the hospital. But we aren't done yet! Let's continue to support Jeff and give him the help he needs.
