I first met Sheila many years ago when I started attending PIF. We served together in church, we laughed together, we loved and cried together. We have shared life together for years and I cannot put into words how blessed I feel to call her sister in this thing called life. God knew that I would need her and gave her to me.
Some of you will know her thru PIF, some thru her workplace, some thru her volunteerism. To know Sheila is to love her. Her warmth and grace, her laughter and her love for Korean food for a petite Colombian chick from Queens is quite unique.
Last week during Hurricane Ida, Sheila, Christopher and her family stood in shock and horror as the water gushed into their apartment in Queens. In just a couple of hours, they lost almost everything. Luckily no one was injured but now they are left sorting through years of their life, trying to salvage what they can.
I personally cannot even imagine what they must be feeling or going thru. I don’t even know how I can help. But here I am trying my hand at this Gofundme thing hoping in someway that this might help her rebuild her life in some small way.
As a single mom with a full time job, having to look for a new place to live.. is a lot to handle while sorting through and trying to salvage what you can from your life’s possessions. Inevitably there will be things that cannot be recovered but not having to worry about some basic necessities and knowing that she has people in her community that love and care about her. Those are things she needs most, even if you can’t donate, just leaving a word of encouragement. Sending an extra prayer for her and her family. Anything will help. For through it all…
God is so good and He always provides.
