DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
The motivation behind getting a movie made is everything. What fuels our passion to work on this particular project is the truth we hope to reveal through the film. When you’re making a movie for someone other than yourself it gives strength and purpose. It gives motivation to push past the barriers and road blocks to making a movie a reality. At Visionary Film Productions our approach is to take on the projects we feel called to, regardless of the challenges. Just because it hasn’t been done, doesn’t mean it can’t be done. If we want better movies and higher quality content that matters, then we have to be the instruments of that change.
We begin every project seeking God’s Will and inspiration. We pray that He use our talents to tell the story the way He wants it told. I approach each film remembering that truly inspired work can only be achieved if God’s Will is at its center.
We believe that movies should share the stories that have the ability to shape and inspire our culture to be better. As artists we aspire to create work that will make the world a better place. What we contribute to the world continues to affect lives, positively or negatively long after we’re gone. What we leave behind matters. Prodigy is a story I know we will be proud to say we told.

Logline: A father must protect his estranged son from the outside world when the boy accurately predicts three end-of-world events.
PRODIGY is a father and son dramatic thriller full of adventure and humanity, which builds to a nail-biting conclusion. Amidst a journey of self-discovery, Erik is given one last chance at redemption as his faith and ability to deal with his past demons are put to the test.
The heart of the film explores the love of a father and son and how the two save each other not only physically, but emotionally on their spiritual journey. It’s a character-driven piece that discusses the reality of miracles in our modern culture and how they affect our current belief systems.
WHY THIS STORY?
PRODIGY is a faith-based genre film. It’s a movie about family, faith, and love when it’s all put to the test in an arena of heavy conflict. This is a film that depicts a very possible future in which we may have to defend our faith and convictions at all costs.The movie explores how our culture may or may not respond if there was undeniable proof of God and the afterlife. In our current state, would it even matter? Would it make a difference? PRODIGY examines these questions and many others in an entertaining film that will captivate viewers of all ages.
On its surface the film is a minimalist action/adventure story that is intended to be a suspenseful tale of survival. More importantly, it's a story about the importance of fatherhood and faith in our changing times. It's the exploration of this father/son relationship that will connect the audience to the story on an emotional level.
Perhaps most importantly, the film offers a look at how our own lives can change if we are willing to put God’s Will before our own.
With a limited cast, accessible locations, and a minimum of special effects, PRODIGY is a character-driven film that we can produce on a lower budget scale.
Join us in bringing this story to the masses.
WHEN DO WE NEED THE FUNDS?
The short answer is that we need to make our production budget as soon as possible as we plan to shoot the film in July 2017. The closer we get to that time frame without our budget locked in, the less likely it is that we will be able to keep to our production schedule.
HOW IS MY MONEY BEING SPENT?
By supporting our film, you are supporting more than a movie. You are supporting a vision for faith-based films that pronounce Jesus Christ to be the most powerful person in the universe. In order to proclaim this truth
our budget will go into...
1) HIRING CREW: We believe a film is only as good as its crew. In order to hire a team that has the skills, creativity, and experience needed to produce a high caliber film we need financing for their salaries.
2) ACTORS: In order to hire the highest caliber of actors we need the funds to bring that talent to our project.
This will ensure a top quality production.
3) EQUIPMENT: In order to shoot a film of high quality, equipment must be rented and purchased. Your generous pledges will be used to rent the RED cinematic digital camera, lenses, lighting kits, microphones, and many other essential pieces that will be needed to capture this powerful story the right way.
4) TRAVEL: In order to create a visually compelling drama, my producing partners and I will be traveling extensively to various locations in Oregon. We will use funding to reach the filming locations for our cast and crew.
5) FOOD AND LODGING: In order to create this film we will need food and lodging for our cast and crew.
$500,000 is the minimum we need to make this film a reality. We call this the Minimum Cost Budget (MCB). Of course raising more funds than our minimum goal will result in a story that is told in a higher quality with higher production value. It will also help secure top acting talent to portray this story with integrity.
Additional funding past our goal will aid us in the marketing and distribution of the film. At this point, the budget is purely for production costs only although we will begin to engage in conversations with distribution companies before the completion of the film.
