Laura Regis-Lepore, originally from Amesbury, MA, has undergone an above-the-knee amputation of her right leg and is suffering from kidney failure. The amputation and organ failure are a result of septic shock that started as an infection in her leg on December 17, 2019. Laura is a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who recently rededicated her life to Jesus.
On December 17, 2019, Laura went to the ER at Parkland Medical Center for pain in her leg. Doctors quickly determined her leg was severely infected and that her body was in septic shock. She was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital on December 18, 2019, where she has been intubated and chemically sedated ever since. The doctor's at PRH performed two surgeries to try to remove the infected tissue from her leg. They determined that amputation was necessary on December 21st.
As a result of the septic shock, Laura requires around the clock dialysis. Our prayers are that her kidneys and heart heal as the infection in her body continues to heal. Laura's family are so grateful for everyone's prayers and support during this difficult time.

Before her illness, Laura was a dedicated medical assistant. She loved her patients and they loved her. Anyone who has met her can tell you that she has is a survivor and has a wonderful sense of humor. She adores her 7 children and 11 grandchildren.
Family and friends are asking for help to support Laura and her family during this difficult time as medical expenses mount. Her recovery will take months to years of physical therapy, dialysis treatments, and the purchasing of medical equipment (wheelchair, prosthetic leg, etc.) for her transition home. Everyone is working together to help Laura's family financially so that her family can focus on Laura and her health, and not worry about the financial burden brought on by this terrible turn of events.
We are forever grateful for your support, love, and prayers.
