Gabriellinda L. Edrado

Gabriellinda Lokelani Edrado, affectionately known throughout her community and by her adoring family as Mama Lynn, embarked on her final aloha tour at the age of 57. Born under the warm Ewa Beach sun on October 17, 1966, she made her vibrant departure on November 25, 2023, in the comforting embrace of Honolulu’s rainbow hues. Like a true performer taking her last bow on stage, Mama Lynn exited with the kind of flair that only a heart as big as hers could muster—via cardiac arrest, almost as if she was passionately saying, "Aloha 'Oe" with her every last heartbeat.

Mama Lynn was the life of the luau, a woman whose love and infectious laughter knew no bounds. She strutted onto the scene in '66 and spent her life spinning records of compassion, tapping to the groove of generosity, and belting out ballads of kindness. Throughout her symphony of life, she shared the stage with her esteemed brothers Ben Mendiola, Gabriel Jr., Gabriel-William, and Gabrielsherwin Edrado, not to forget their fantastic wives, who often served as her backup vocals and dancers.

Her greatest hits, however, included her leading men: sons Paia (with his duet partner Kristi-Ann), Kimo, Ikaika (alongside Anela), Ka'iulani (featuring Sheana) Ah Mook Sang, Ruben Antonio, and Chance Edrado, as well as her showstopping daughter, Juana-Marie Hōkūlani (harmonizing with Koamalu) Edayan-Lindo. Mama Lynn's extended family ensemble featured her hānai 'ohana, Summer Aso'au and Savannah Mendiola, as well as her step-children Bradley, Taisha, Ashley Fernandez, and Scott Vincent.

Like any rockstar matriarch, Mama Lynn’s band of 16 grandbabies reverberated her love and zest for life. From Jacob to Ariella, each grandchild was a note in her grand song of life, echoing her joy and spirit into the future. Mama Lynn graduated magna cum laude from the School of the Hard Knock-Life, earning a Doctrine in making miracles out of nothing—a title she carried with every ounce of her indefatigable energy.

As for the single mother's work, well, that's a concert that never ends, and Mama Lynn was the headliner every single night. Her days were orchestrated in a flurry of cooking, laughing, singing, and essentially teaching the world how to find the melody in the mundane. Lynn’s passions echoed through her adoration of musical legends like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, and Anne Murray, with her life philosophy being simple yet profound: "Music is Life and Life is Music."

Mama Lynn could turn a frown upside down quicker than you could say "Tiny Bubbles." Her smile, her warmth, her indomitable spirit of aloha was a beacon in the lives she touched. Radiating boundless friendliness and unrivaled selflessness, Lynn danced through life's challenges with the grace of a hula dancer under the full moon.

With the comedic timing that would have her spinning tales with the likes of Robin Williams in heaven, she lived by a motto borrowed from the beloved comedian, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." And, true to form, she never did lose that spark.

In her extraordinary journey, we, her 'ohana, find solace in knowing that Mama Lynn will always be with us—whenever we hear the soft strums of a ukulele or the distant murmur of the ocean, we'll feel her presence, find her laughter in the rustle of the palm leaves, and see her dance in the flicker of the tiki torches.

So, here's to you, Mama Lynn. The standing ovation is deafening, the curtain call exquisite. You've made your final stage exit, but the encore of your life's love and laughter will continue to resonate eternally in our hearts. E hō mai i ka maluhia, our beloved Mama Lynn, until we meet again.
