Save Ferris Bueller

Hello friends and family,

As some of you are aware, my fiance Dawn and I have moved from SoCal to Barrington, IL. This move was originally an attempt to move all the way across country to be near family in New England. Well, we didn't quite make it to New England due to finances and job outlook. Instead, we landed in beautiful Barrington, IL, where Dawn's sister lives. That's a long story in and of itself. Needless to say, so far we are happy here. We've found a place to live, Dawn has found work and I'm closing in on a good job with a reprographics company. In the interim, we hired a moving company to pick up and store our belongings until we had a new address to take delivery of said belongings (everything we own, I mean EVERYTHING). Herein lies the reason for this GoFundMe page. This moving company has raised the price of delivery of our items by a cool $3000 above the agreed upon price, which we have already paid them ($3005.75). While I've contacted the Better Business Bureau (the case is pending) and I have had many, many conversations with said company: they refuse to deliver any of our worldly possessions without payment in full, even with the promise to pay in installments. Thusly, Dawn and I have been living out of two suitcases full of clothing since August 23rd here in our new rented (small) apartment. Yes, that is a long time to wear two pair of jeans and a few T-Shirts, and to sleep on an air mattress we were forced to buy (two actually because the first one failed after some weeks of rest upon it). I won't bore you with too many other details, but I'd be happy to take any phone calls from friends and family to further discuss this living nightmare I've found myself in, with my bride-to-be. It's an unfortunate situation with so many other details that won't fit into the description field allotted here on GoFundMe. Needless to say, we need our furniture, clothing, some very important personal items, etc. Imagine what you would pack to move across country. So, it is with a sense of (some) embarrassment that I post this GoFundMe page, but I feel like it is a last resort. I've literally burned through my 401K money, Savings, and anything else I could liquidate to make the move. Also, my wonderful mother has lent me an absurd amount of money already and I just can't ask again. (Thank you Mom!!) Really, my mother is an angel and has been such a support throughout this very difficult journey. If I could write a book about what we've experienced during this moving experience (both good and bad) I would. But I just don't think it would sell enough copies to cover the final cost of the move. That said, if you can help a struggling couple get their worldly possessions back from a dastardly, unethical, swindling moving company called Venture Van Lines who brokered the move out to another swindling company called Sannah Van Lines, I'd be much obliged for any amount you can give. I have set the amount at $3000 but that is not the final amount they seek. I do have a few bucks left to throw at this misadventure from what little income I currently have. So, with hat-in-hand, I ask if you are able to offer a buck or two to help me out, I'd be eternally grateful, thankful, and my faith in humanity be restored (not that it is all lost, I still have faith in humanity, and my higher power). With that, I know we all have our financial burdens, and if you are unable to give I would never hold it against anyone. I still love all my family and friends, no matter what.
