TLDR, my abusive parents have trapped me in a toxic, unlivable situation, and I am desperately asking for support.

Hi, I'm a 19-year-old who is asking for support as I work toward building a life of safety, stability, and independence. I was raised in a highly controlling household, where my autonomy has been constantly challenged and my choices dismissed. My parents promised to pay for my college education but ultimately pinned me with $17,000 in student debt, refusing to pay anything towards it or even co-sign a loan. Not only do they refuse to co-sign anything with me, they also are refusing to let me tell the college that I am an independent, meaning that any financial aid I get will be based off of their income. To my parents, I am a tax write-off. They expect me to take on the responsibilities of a mother toward my sisters, even though I want to start my healthy adult life that is my own. They refuse to let me get a job and expect me to be a full-time student while denying me personal freedoms and autonomy. In addition to the emotional and financial strain, the environment has at times been physically abusive. When I was 18 years old, my mother strangled me in our living room in front of my younger sisters. Despite all of this, I’ve stayed strong — but I know it’s time to break the cycle and start over. I’m not asking for a handout; I’m asking for a chance to live freely, to heal, and to pursue my future without fear. Every donation will go toward helping me relocate, cover basic living expenses, and regain control of my life. This is a last resort, and I have tried and exhausted all other options.
