Moya's Medical Fund

I'm Kristin and my sister, Moya, is 30 years old and battling triple negative breast cancer.

Last year, my family was dealing with the final months of my father's battle with prostate cancer. My sister and her boyfried Jeremiah used all of their vacation time and some of their savings to come home from Portland, Oregon to Michigan to help out and be by his side.  Moya spent months here in Michigan unpaid to be able to do whatever we could for my dad in his last days. Sadly we lost my dad on October 5th.

Throughout this ordeal, Moya was also in school online to get her degree in accounting. She decided after my dad passed away to quit her job and find another one that would allow her to finish up her last year of school without pulling her focus. After helping settle my father's affairs, she returned to Portland and started her job search. It was at that time she found a suspicious lump in her breast.

On January 3rd, one day after starting a new job with a temp agency, one she hoped to move into permanently, Moya received her cancer diagnosis. Last week we learned her fight would be greater than anticipated. Moya carries the BrCa 2 gene mutation which causes breast cancer, prostate cancer (and was likely what caused our dad's cancer), ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, and melanoma. In addition to chemo, Moya has ahead of her a double mastectomy that will consist of 2 - 3 surgeries over 4 months, and the need for full removal of her reproductive organs.

While Moya's spirit is high, she's very worried about finances. Her job prospects as she fights this battle are very low. Moya and Jeremiah are doing everything they can to find a solution to this problem, but it would a tremendous blessing to be able to remove some of this burden from Moya's shoulders.

Last year was really difficult, and this year won't be easy. I would love nothing more than to be able to allow Moya to stay focused on getting better, so that next year she'll be able to finish school, find the job she loves, and enjoy her good health. Anything you can give to help relieve this burden is greatly appreciated!
