Our grandma was diagnosed with dementia and has lived in a long-term care facility for years. Her health declined rapidly this week, and today our mom signed the hospice consent forms.

Grandma has extensive blood clots in her body, including her lungs, multiple infections like pneumonia, and had a heart attack. We are following her wishes to not be kept alive on machines or to receive any further medical treatment.

Grandma has been disabled for a long time and has no insurance or other resources to cover cremation costs. We would like to raise enough to cover the cremation.

Grandma lost two babies shortly after birth and they are buried at a baby cemetery in Jacksonville. As the dementia progressed, Grandma wanted to be near the babies she never got to hold. One day she got on a bus to move to Jacksonville, and has been there ever since. She told the nursing staff that she is ready to go home and take care of her babies. After cremation we are going to honor her wish to spread her ashes with her babies.

Funds would be used to pre-pay for the cremation.

Grandma raised our two cousins, and we would like to raise a little extra to help cover their costs to travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to be part of a celebration of life.
