Help us rebuild !

Hi,

My name is Yvonne Torres. I am a single mom with 4 young children in Houston, Texas, ages 10, 9, 7, and 3. I have fallen into a very tough time. I am struggling very hard to keep a roof over our heads and creating this GoFundMe account as a last resort.

I was evicted from my apartment of 5 years about a month ago because I had fallen behind on rent due to reduced hours at work and all other living expenses I tried keeping up with while working for a little over minimum wage. Since I was evicted, I have only been able to work part-time while my NCI-covered child care was being reinstated, which has been as of today, so I can now work more hours. With the help of some family, I was able to pay for a motel that’s near the daycare, my job, and the kids' school, but it’s becoming too much. I have to be out of here soon with nowhere to go. I need time to earn more money to be able to have enough to actually get us into an apartment so meanwhile a motel is my only option at this time. I have called the shelters provided to me by the United Way helpline; they do not have any openings. I am on a waiting list for the one that would put me on a waiting list. I have just been in contact with a school caseworker that is also trying to help with assistance for me, but this may take some time.

Meanwhile, I need some assistance now to keep a roof over our heads until any other assistance that may be available comes through, and I am able to get back on my feet again.

Any donation amount helps and would be greatly appreciated. It is going to help pay for the motel room in which we are living currently so that I can keep my job and the kids can continue to go to the daycare that is covered through a daycare assistance fund. This is necessary for me to be able to work and help rebuild the life for me and my kids!
