We are setting up this fundraiser in order to support two anonymous disabled members of the community with their new housing costs.

Both people were served a no-fault eviction notice from what they thought would be a stable home for years to come. Navigating the rental market whilst claiming disability benefits has been incredibly horrible and traumatising for them; landlords and estate agents have been constantly rejecting them despite having enough money and savings simply due to being claimants (this is illegal).

They have finally found a property willing to accept them - however the property is not cheap at all. Due to this being the only place willing to accept them after a gruelling search and with an eviction date looming, they have no choice but to accept moving into a property that they will struggle to be able to afford.

One person is a SWer and is having to endure more traumatising shifts in order to be able to afford the fees that come with moving into a new property. The other is transgender and due to go to rehab soon for a debilitating drug addiction, partly caused by the psychological torture that the criminal justice system has wrought against them after they put their body on the line for Palestine.

On behalf of our friends, we are asking the wider community to raise money to help cover a portion of their rent and the initial fees that they have had to pay at short notice to move in. It may be possible that both people will be paying rent for two properties at once as well, which will also need covering.

We ask all of those who have solidarity with the disabled, the SWers, the addicts and the queers to help support our friends live the life they deserve.
