My name is Gizmoe. I’ve been a Salt Lake City resident since 2016. Some of you may know me as the organizer behind FERVOR, but I’m also a freelance graphic designer, artist, DJ, and proud dog dad to Toshiko.

Over the past four years, I’ve been able to sustain myself through community—producing events, taking on contract design work, and playing gigs. That work has taken me across the country, connecting with other scenes and bringing that energy back home to SLC.

This past half year, though, has been especially difficult. The cost of producing events has increased dramatically, and shifts in the creative industry—especially with the rise of AI—have made it harder to find consistent design work. On top of that, I’ve been caring for my elderly dog and covering his medical needs, while my rent has increased by nearly $400 over the last three years.

Winter was slower than expected, and after taking losses on events earlier this year, I’ve come up short on rent for the next two months. I’m asking for mutual aid to help cover rent and basic medical expenses so I can stabilize and move into a more affordable space.

My current rent is $2,200/month, and I’m about $800 short for this month (due May 5). In total, I’m hoping to raise around $5,500 to cover two months of rent, medical costs, and a deposit to relocate within the next 60 days.

This support would give me the breathing room to continue planning upcoming summer events like FERVOR PRIDE, and follow through on gigs that I rely on to sustain through the rest of the year.

I don’t take asking for help lightly, but I’m doing my best to be vulnerable about where I’m at. I’m incredibly grateful for the community that has supported me over the years.
