The educators at Aptos Middle School are going on strike to fight for public education. We did not take the decision to strike lightly, but SFUSD has given us no choice. For the last eleven months, the 6,000+ members of United Educators of San Francisco have been negotiating for equitable special education, healthcare for our dependents, sanctuary schools, protections from AI, salary increases, and more.
Many of our staff will face significant financial hardship due to income loss during the strike. We want to make sure our must vulnerable educators are supported during this challenging time. No one wants to be put in a position where they must choose between forgoing basic needs and crossing a picket line.
The funds raised through this campaign will help cover essential expenses like rent, groceries, childcare, and bills for educators who lose wages during the strike. Supporting Aptos educators helps them continue to advocate for the public schools that every San Franciscan child, family, and educator deserve.
We take care of us. Please consider donating to help our educators during our strike. Your support will make a real difference and ensure our teachers, paraeducators, social workers, nurses, family liaisons, security, and every Aptos educator can keep fighting for our schools.
The organizers of this fundraiser work at Aptos Middle School. We are a team of four who will work together to ensure funds are distributed equitably, punctually, and transparently to our colleagues. We are using a Google Form to track requests from colleagues. Info is kept confidential and we will be transferring funds directly via the recipient's preferred method (Venmo, Zelle, etc.). Recipients will use the funds for bills like rent, groceries, electricity, and more.
