Through my regular visits to the Gambia I have personally known Mustapha Manneh for nearly 20 years and watched him grow from a local young environmentalist and journalist into a well travelled, highly experienced investigative journalist, environmental advocate, fisheries researcher and community mobilizer.
He is committed to strengthening governance, transparency, and sustainable development across West Africa. Through his leadership at TVMBH and his reporting on coastal communities, illegal fishing, environmental justice, and policy reform, Mustapha has already become a strong voice for marginalized groups whose stories often go unheard.
For years, he has worked at the intersection of media, community activism, and policy advocacy, helping shape public conversations and pushing for accountability in natural resource management.
He has a fantastic opportunity to further develop his skills by pursuing a Master’s in International Relations and Diplomacy at Supdeco University Campus Banjul, Gambia
This degree is essential for his work because:
• Gambian CSOs, journalists, and policymakers urgently need skilled professionals
• Mustapha’s community advocacy and regional reporting will benefit from stronger diplomatic skills, analytical tools, and policy knowledge.
• The training will empower him to engage more effectively with government, foreign missions, development partners, and communities.
• The program will elevate his ability to shape public policy, contribute to research, and represent local voices in global discussions.
This master’s degree is not just for personal growth—it’s an investment in better advocacy, stronger institutions, and informed development in The Gambia.
Like so many in the Gambia, despite Mustapha’s commitment to public-interest work, he faces financial barriers to enrolling in the program. Tuition, registration, research costs, and study materials exceed what he currently earns through his voluntary and community-centered work.
Your support will help cover:
• Tuition and registration fees
• Books and research materials
• Fieldwork and academic project costs
• Transportation and study expenses
Every contribution—no matter how small—brings him closer to this important opportunity - please help if you can.
