Afzal Ilahi:
Afzal Ilahi is a current resident of Midwood, Brooklyn. He is a Loan Officer and specializes in commericial and residential mortgage loans. He is coordinating with the team to ensure the needs of the community that are hit the most are met during these dire and difficult times.

Our relationship to the parties that we are raising funds for?
We are not affiliated with Al-Rayaan Muslim Funeral Services located at 1093 Coney Island Ave Brooklyn NY 11230 in any way, shape or form. Our foremost goal is to serve the community. We will be working closely with Al-Rayaan Funeral Services to achieve those goals.
How will the funds be used?
The funds will be used to purchase a refrigerated trailer to store the bodies. Currently, Al-Rayaan Muslim Funeral Services can only hold up to 3 bodies at a time that are refrigerated. There are many bodies at Al-Rayaan which are not being kept in the storage fridge due to limitations. If the bodies are not kept in a fridge, in a few days, the bodies will start to rot, decompose and decaying. Furthermore, there are bodies at the hospitals that are not picked up or claimed. With a refrigerated trailer, Al-Rayaan will be able to pick up these bodies at the hospitals and store them in the refrigerated trailer. We are looking to procure a refrigerated trailer that can hold approximately 30-40 bodies at a time. This will also help alleviate the burden on the hospitals.
The acquisition of a trailer, will involve additional costs above and beyond the purchase price. These costs include registration, transporting the trailer to the desired location on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn. In addition, the trailer will also incur operating costs such as diesel fuel to keep the refrigeration running and prevent the bodies from decaying.
The trailer will be considered community property and would not belong to Al-Rayaan or any one individual. However, they will have access to utilize it as required until the COVID-19 crisis is over. If maximum capacity is not reached the trailer will be made available to surrounding communities as well.
Any excess funds will be used to pay funeral costs for families who cannot afford to bury their loved ones or towards Muslim bodies that have not been claimed by immediate family members or friends at the hospital. No funds will be given to Al-Rayaan until proper documentation of cost and services is provided. All payments will be updated on the Go Fund Me page for donors to see. The process will be transparent.
Any payments made to Al-Rayaan will be made through either wire transfer or ACH. No payments will be made in cash.
