In March, I will be volunteering with The TreeHouse Society in Langkawi, Malaysia, a grassroots learning centre supporting refugee and underprivileged children who do not have access to formal schooling.
The centre currently has one guitar with a broken string. I am hoping to raise £300 to purchase four ukuleles, a classroom glockenspiel, and a set of rhythm instruments (including hand percussion such as drums, claves and castanets). Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards purchasing these resources.
Through my work as a music teacher in the UK and Ireland, I have seen first-hand how powerful music education can be in building confidence, creativity, connection and intercultural awareness. I will be delivering music sessions for the students at the TreeHouse Society and sharing practical tools with local teachers.
My aim is not just to run a few sessions, but to provide sustainable instruments and materials that can continue to inspire creativity and musical learning long after I return to the UK.
Thank you so much for your support - Go raibh míle maith agat - Terima kasih banyak
