Music Scholarship in Memory of Michael Hopkins

Donation protected
$2,000 minimum is needed to be raised and the “goal” is accumulative of the past three years.

Hello friends and family,
As many of you know, our mom Lucy Hopkins passed away this year on March 3rd. She was our brother's number one fan and was just so happy to call him her son. She loved all things in the Connecticut music scene, especially all the local bands and groups that Mike had the privilege to be part of. Mass Production, bands from the '80-'90s, Wooden Horse and many other musical collaborations and musiciansfrom all over.
Usually, as a family, we have had an in-person fundraising event to raise money for the scholarship. This year, it was just not possible while dealing with our mom's illness and eventually her passing away just took so much time and energy from Becky and me.

one thing we do know; everyone loved Mike Hopkins.

He became an audio engineer in the 90s and that brought him to Nashville Tennessee.
there he was co-owner of a music studio and he worked with many well-known artists including Billy Dean, Garth Brooks, Seal, and many many more.
In the early 2000’s he even won a best audio engineer Grammy in a collaboration with Sheryl Crowe!
As a family, we are all so proud of his accomplishments through his years in the music industry.

Michael passed away in April 2016 from pancreatic cancer. He courageously fought for 3 years and if you knew Mike, he always kept a sense of humor and never felt sorry for himself. We could all learn from his stoic and brave fight.

Back in 2021, at the 5th anniversary of his passing, we, as a family, began a fundraiser scholarship to raise monies to give to 2 students of Plainfield High School, where many of Mike's early musical achievements began a little cash!
We have to date given 4 students $1,000 each to give them a little boost to help with their musical careers. We will want to keep this scholarship going as long as we can.

We are asking family and friends to pitch in a few bucks and we will match up to a certain dollar amount to be able to give to two students that are pursuing a career in the Music field. We are hoping to give this to the two students this Spring 2023.
This will be in Mike's honor and memory of all he gave to music.
Music was his heart and soul and we want this to live on forever.

thank you in advance friends,
