Well, this has been a rough start to the tour. On Wednesday, the first day of the tour - when I was driving, we experienced an unfortunate accident when a driver swerved toward us, causing the Suburban to hit the guardrail. As a result, the front passenger door became stuck shut, and the back passenger door has lost its water seal. There's also a cool (not so cool?) racing stripe/indentation along the length of the truck.
As bad as this situation was, we're lucky that there was a guard rail on particular section of road. If it hadn't been there then things could have been much worse than a few bumped heads and headaches.
We had to pull over immediately to inspect the damage, and the other driver was long gone (no, we don’t have a dash cam), so this is considered an "at fault" accident by the insurance company. The repair quote was $14,463 USD/$19,919 CAD (just to give you an idea of the damage!!!), but fortunately, JW's insurance will cover most of it. The costs associated with this are the deductible, garage assessment, wheel alignment, rental car expenses during repairs (approx 3-5 days), and getting the air conditioning back in action (not a big deal at this time of year in Canada, but we're hitting some hot southern states like Arizona and Texas on this trip).
For five and a half years, I've had the great fortune of playing around the world with JW. During this time, he's given me so many opportunities to grow as a musician and as a person. Because I was the one driving, I would like to help him out in this situation. After my wedding just a couple of weeks ago, and being a full-time musician myself, I don't have the means to cover these costs for him at this time.
We are determined to keep the tour going and bring our music to you, but as you can imagine the budget on these tours is tight, and we could really use your support to help cover these unexpected expenses. If you’ve enjoyed our music and want to help us through this bump in the road/Suburban, any contribution would mean the world to us.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming shows ❤️
Thank you,
Jacob
