Music for the Mind The Best Floyd Show Must Go On

Donation protected
Hello I'm Comfortably Floyd. Over the past 12 months, I've gained 12k+ followers on TikTok (ComfortablyFloyd Official) performing the timeless music of Pink Floyd on vocals and multiple instruments as a solo artist. I started doing live TikTok shows in May 2023 once the weather warmed up, and have lately enjoyed the reputation as the best live Pink Floyd show on TikTok.

This fundraiser here is only to keep these shows continuing, especially now that the cold weather has set in where my studio is an unheated room that is getting much too cold to play in. The cold may soon also cause damage to a lot of the equipment used to produce these live shows. Lately I've had to cut shows short due to the physical strain of performing in 45-degree F ( 7C) temperatures. Without some (non-electric) heat soon, I will not be able to do these big production shows until at least next May. Equipment will need to be brought down, put away, and stored somewhere else that's warmer.

Added on December 1, 2023:
The heater and parts are nearly all paid, thanks to those great people who’ve contributed. The energy source for it is more expensive than the heater. I recently learned about a certain type of coal that burns 2x’s hotter and longer than the wood using now. Currently with the wood, it barely heats up the room up to 45-50F as the colder December weather starts, then drops below freezing soon after the shows. So far, a few items used for the shows have been damaged by the below freezing temperatures. To fix this, the coal is needed so I can heater the room all day. 2 real windows and a door will also help keep the heat inside the room.

An average night of a Comfortably Floyd TikTok live performance contains 30 to 45 songs spanning a wide variety of Pink Floyd's music. Many live shows lately focus on performing The Wall almost in entirety, sometimes 27 consecutive songs from that legendary double album. The Wall is a rock opera that explores abandonment and isolation, symbolized by a wall. This album shows off my vocal ability and emotional connection required to emulate the Roger Waters style. Over the course of a few shows, songs from every Floyd album are performed.

Comfortably Floyd's live shows are unique is so many ways that makes them stand out from the crowd. The synchronized lights, lasers, and video effects help the viewers feel the true Floydian vibes. Not only vocals and guitar are performed with backing tracks, as in many TikTok shows, but also keyboards, saxophone, and sometimes trumpet. My ability to emulate the vocal timbres and emotions of Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Syd Barrett enables the listeners to feel immersed in the sound of the original artists. Comfortably Floyd's specialty of singing Roger Waters, and talent on multiple instruments expands the scope of the typical Floyd repertoire to include many songs from The Final Cut album, such as The Gunner's Dream featuring it's amazing sax solo .

The Dark Side of the Moon album takes listeners across various emotions and stages of human life, beginning and ending with a heartbeat. The themes revolve around conflict, morality, greed, time and mental illness. The saxophone performances on "Money" and Us & Them" are unique to this show. Songs from the Wish You Were Here album require multiple instruments, such as the acoustic guitar on the title track , sax on "Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5", and the synthesizers/keyboards on "Have a Cigar " and "Welcome to the Machine ".

The prism artwork for the Dark Side of the Moon album cover is an iconic and elegant design. This being one of the most recognizable album covers in music, is the main influence of Comfortably Floyd's Prism Lasers design.

The music, by its very nature, is emotional, having rhythm, stress, accent and intonation. Music of Pink Floyd, combined with the visuals of lighting, lasers, video, transcends us to times, places, and emotions on all levels.

Supporters and daily viewers of these live shows have shown their support in their words, gifts, and dedicated assistance during and after every show. I have received multiple comments from the audience on how the shows and this great music helps them through tough times both emotionally and physically. Their kind words, gestures, and gifts inspire me to want to perform for them every day while improving the shows constantly.

There is a significant amount of time and money that goes into such live productions. The typical current setup uses 17 light/laser fixtures, guitar & vocal effects boards, video projector, fog machine, mixers, in-ear click tracks, music backing tracks with videos, audio interface, 2 iPhones, 3 guitars, reverb effects, microphones, sound equalizer, headphones, powered speaker, 2 MacBook Pro laptops, saxophone, and sometimes a trumpet. Electricity costs for the shows cost $200-$300 per month, so the show runs on a constant deficit. Eventually I wish this to become my prime source of work in the future. Whether it be on TikTok live or in some other venue, I hope to share my talents of what I do best with the world continue the far reaching positive impacts of this life-changing music.

To continue these shows, I’m looking to raise funds for a few things. First and foremost, I need a small furnace capable of heating up the performance room through the winter. Cost of the small furnace and installation is around $500. The performance studio room is part of a rehabbed building that will someday become home and workplace for me, along with my wife and child. This is the room that will always be my studio. If this fundraiser goes above the initial goal of $500, 2 permanent windows (to replace the foam sheets currently in there), and a door to separate the room from the rest of the building will be needed. These things are all part of keeping the room warm enough to perform and safely store all the equipment.

Thank you for reading and for supporting. If you have never seen any of my shows, I'm live on TikTok almost every day at all different hours, mainly during USA afternoons/early evenings. I also have a few videos on youtube.com/@pinkfloydeu . There's a video below taken from my TikTok show on November 2, 2023 as well as a setlist from one of my recent shows.

Best Wishes,
Comfortably Floyd
