Music Benefit for Kiwanis BACKPACK PROJECT
The Port Townsend High School Music program will stream a virtual concert through PTHSMusic.com at 5pm on Saturday, December 12th. This concert will benefit the Kiwanis Club’s BACKPACK PROJECT. The Students’ goal is to reach 1,212 viewers of the performance in order to raise $1,212 in funds to support the BACKPACK PROJECT.
The Backpack Program, run by PT Kiwanis Club, provides meals to families who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch in the PT school district. Last year, this program provided almost 18,000 weekend meals. This program is more important than ever before as families face pandemic-induced financial hardships.
Students in the Port Townsend High School Orchestra aim to have as many viewers as possible at their virtual concert. A “Backpack Giving Fund” is committed to donating up to $1,212 to the Backpack Program by matching a dollar for each viewer on the concert livestream. The Port Townsend High School Music Program hopes to share music with their community while raising money for a worthy cause.
