¿Quiénes somos?
El Museo del Libro Venezolano es una institución privada, sin fines de lucro, cuyo objetivo es rescatar, conservar, estudiar y exhibir la riqueza bibliográfica venezolana.
Esto implica mostrar las principales obras, autores, editoriales, imprentas, revistas, periódicos, libros raros y manuscritos, así como todo aquello que esté relacionado con la elaboración del libro o tenga valor histórico, social, literario y artístico. Además, nos proponemos divulgar la importancia sobre obras útiles que permitan resaltar aspectos destacados de la historia y del pensamiento del país.
¿Por qué vale la pena esta iniciativa?
Somos un grupo de idealistas empeñados en rescatar y preservar la historia de los mejores y más importantes libros de Venezuela. El objetivo es demostrar que nuestro país vale y sobre todo que han habido siempre venezolanos meritorios, que pueden ser inspiración para muchos y que deben ser motivo de orgullo para todos.
¿Dónde estamos ubicados?
Nuestro museo se encuentra en Caracas. Ahí nos ocuparemos de diseñar un conjunto de exposiciones permanentes para cubrir todos los días del año. Valdrá la pena la visita personal al espacio.
¿Cuándo estaremos abriendo nuestras puertas?
Esperamos poder darle la bienvenida a nuestro público a comienzos del 2023.
¿Cómo se utilizarán los fondos?
Necesitamos tu ayuda para pagar el alquiler del espacio y el sueldo de nuestros ayudantes. Queremos garantizar la viabilidad financiera del proyecto. Contamos con tu apoyo.

What is this initiative about?
The Museo del Libro Venezolano (MLV) is a private, non-profit institution. Our objective is to rescue, preserve, study, and exhibit Venezuela’s bibliographic heritage.
Founded in 2020, the MLV contains more than 1,000 works, ranging from 18th-century colonial manuscripts to first editions of 20th-century novels, including Rómulo Gallegos’s Doña Bárbara and Arturo Úslar Pietri’s Las lanzas coloradas. Apart from rare and special books, the museum’s collection contains newspapers and magazines.
Why is this initiative worthwhile?
We are a group of idealists committed to rescuing and preserving the history of the best and most important books in Venezuela. The objective is to demonstrate that there have always been commendable Venezuelans, who can be an inspiration to many and should be a source of pride for all. The MLV will engage with Venezuelans and encourage discussions about history through books, which are perhaps the best tools for learning and cultural appreciation. We will organize workshops, lectures and, above all, educational exhibits. We want to inform our visitors and imbue them with love and awe for the many Venezuelan written achievements of the last two centuries.
Where are we located?
Our museum is located in Caracas. There we will host permanent exhibitions.
When will the museum open?
We look forward to welcoming our visitors in early 2023.
How will the funds be used?
We need your help to pay the space’s rent and our employees’ salaries. We want to guarantee the financial viability of the project. We count on your support.
