Murrow on Tour: Temple Festival of Winds
Donation protected
*****WE HAVE MET OUR INITIAL FUNDRAISING GOAL!*****
*****THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS DONORS!!!!*****
Because our initial goal was met and all of our students with financial need have been accommodated, we are updating our fundraising goal. All future donations will serve to reduce the price of our trip for ALL of our students. Thank you once again for your generosity and support!
My name is Alan Faiola, and I am the Director of Bands at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn, New York. In March of this year, our Wind Ensemble will embark on a mini-tour that will feature three performances at three different venues (details below). I encourage you to donate to this fundraiser to assist 5 of our students with payment for this trip. This will be our band's first overnight trip in several years, and we want every single member to have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from the experience, no matter what level of financial commitment they are able to make.
Murrow is one of the largest and most diverse high schools in all of New York City, and has a long and proud tradition of excellence in arts and music. I am proud to have worked with my administrators and colleagues in the past three years to re-grow our programs which suffered high levels of attrition due to COVID. The students who will be performing on our tour are among the most ambitious, dedicated, and appreciative students I have ever had the privilege of working with, and this trip will be a peak experience for these young people who have shown so much love for and commitment to their music program.
Here are some tour details:
March 15th: Pops Concert performance at Edward R. Murrow High School
March 16th: Performance and clinic at “Band Fest” hosted by Wagner High School, Guest Conductor TBD
March 17th: Performance, clinic, and masterclasses at Temple University in Philadelphia, which includes:
- Masterclasses with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and faculty at Temple University
- Performances by the Temple University Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony
- On-Stage performance and clinic with Dr. Patricia Cornett (Temple University), Dr. Nathan Buonviri (Temple University), Dr. William Lake (George Mason), Dr. Jacob Wallace (South Dakota State University)
Your much-appreciated donation will help us create unforgettable learning and performing experiences for our students, and we thank you in advance for your support and generosity!
