February 2026: It has been over 2 1/2 years since the wildfire destroyed my parents' (Richard & Betsy Murray) family home in Lahaina on August 8, 2023 and we are finally at the stage where rebuilding can begin.

Originally created on August 11th, 2023, 3 days after the fire. (The original goal was $50k, we raised $27,233 with 106 donations through 2/27/24 which helped cover initial living expenses immediately following the fire. )

Hi, my name is Crystal DeZao (Murray). I started this fundraiser to help support my parents, Richard and Betsy Murray. We believe they have lost everything in this horrific tragedy, including their home and business. My parents have lived in Lahaina for their entire lives, serving the community through Kaanapali Beach Ministry Church and Lahaina Ice Company. They will need as much support as we can give them, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Please continue to keep our families, friends, and our hometown community of Lahaina in your prayers. Your support in any way is truly appreciated.

This is a very overwhelming time, so to help alleviate some of the added stress I will be helping my parents manage these funds. All funds raised from this will be used to pay for living expenses as needed.

The sad reality is that news coverage of this disaster will fade, but the ongoing need for help for my family, friends and the people within our Lahaina community will still remain. The anticipated recovery, cleanup & rebuilding process may take many years and the mortgage & insurance companies sure don't make things easy.
