Muriel Sampson - Commemorative Scholarship Fund

Muriel was a truly courageous, creative, kind and beautiful human being. Throughout her life and career she touched so many people deeply with her sincerity and gentleness. She was an incredible mother, grandmother and friend and we will miss her beyond words.

Over the past few years Muriel showed remarkable bravery in her battle with cancer and never for a moment gave up hope throughout this challenging experience.

As sad as it feels, Muriel's transition was beautiful. Her son Cale and daughter-in-law Jamie were both by her side, holding her hands and speaking love to her. We know for certain that she is at peace right now surrounded by pure love.

In Muriel's memory, we are setting up a scholarship fund to be given as an annual award to a high school student who displays attributes of both creativity and courage (like Muriel). It will be awarded to one student every year at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute in Toronto, where Jamie works as a teacher and where Muriel has previously contributed her support.

Any additional funds beyond the goal of $2000 will be used to honour Muriel with a commemorative bench in her name. This will be located in the park across the street from Muriel’s home where she was happy and at peace at the end of her life’s journey.

A private celebration of life with Muriel's close friends and family will be held in the near future.
