Dear friends,
in the end of August 2020, suspected with coronavirus, my father Volodymyr Muravskyi was unexpectedly diagnosed with IV phase cancer, generalized form of melanoma with lung metastases. In another words my father's lungs looks like night sky with thousands of deadly dangerous stars/dots.
Early in 2017, he was operated on a skin mole on the right shoulder and a 6-month treatment with Laferobion was carried out. For 3 years, there were no complaints, the condition was regularly monitored.
Current condition is a serious oncology illness that requires long and very expensive treatment. The examination was carried out and treatment was prescribed at the National Cancer Institute (Kiev, Ukraine).
The cost of one course of immunotherapy - KEYTRUDA® (pembrolizumab) (https://www.keytruda.com/) is about 460,000 UAH – approx. 16,300 USD, 13,800 EUR. This is the only possible treatment for advanced melanomas that cannot be surgically removed. The course consists of 4 shots every 3 weeks.
We are almost over the first course and going for the check-up soon, will keep you updated. The number of courses depends on the dynamics of the disease and is controlled by special examinations. Unfortunately, in Ukraine there is no health insurance system so the entire amount should be paid out of pocket by our family. Unfortunately, there is no government procurement of KEYTRUDA® in Ukraine.
My father and mother are retirees, displaced from their hometown, from the zone of military conflict in Donetsk in 2014, in east Ukraine. They live near the contact line in Slavyansk in Donetsk region and they are trying to start a new life there. It is impossibly hard to start a new life, find a new job and to arrange a new place to call home!
My mother passed away in November 2020 after a fight with coronavirus pneumonia and my father is now overwhelmed with challenges and trying to put things together.
As some of you may know me and my sister are also trying a start new live, and we moved to Europe. Unfortunately, we are at the very start of immigration process and we are not able to bring our father to Europe and get insurance and treatment for him.
My father is 56 years old. All the time, he has been working hard as a coal miner and a construction worker, many years without vacation. For the last 10 years, my father has been leading a healthy lifestyle, not consuming nicotine nor alcohol.
With the financial help of our family, we were be able to carry out the first course of treatment. We are asking you for help and support for the second and the third course. We are ready to provide supporting documents and extracts.
