Mural to Honor: Grant — Carney — Lincoln
I would rather create, than destroy.
A quick intro, I’m a mural artist best known for painting The Freedom Rocks across the state of Iowa and the country.
After watching monuments to incredible men like Ulysses Grant, William Carney and Abraham Lincoln face vandalism and being torn down, I thought let’s see if folks around the country would like to see some creation, rather than all the destruction.
Though not perfect men (who is?!) I thought it ridiculous that Grant and Lincoln,
(men at the lead in winning the Civil War for the Union and freeing the slaves) would ever be subjected to vandalism... but then, they went on to vandalize the monument to the 54th Massachusetts and William H Carney, the all black unit and Medal of Honor recipient. There is no place for that behavior in our country.
So, with your help, I would like to paint a mural honoring these men and their service to our country. Something similar to my sketch attached here, and it wouldn’t need to be exact and created to fit space.
To lift up, and create.. not tear down and destroy.
I usually charge $3,500 for a basic 8ft x 8ft mural. I will give as much as I can to make it bigger than that. But I have a family to care for and small business to run, so time and money are limited.
If I can raise more, we’ll make it bigger... if I raise a bunch, we’ll keep painting and honoring the men and women who deserve to have their legacy preserved.
Money will got directly to scaffolding, brushes, paint, labor, accommodations and travel to and from site.
I’m looking for a great building or site to paint this mural, though it would be neat to have in one of these guy’s birthplace or places they’ve called home.
If no one’s interested that’s cool, thought I’d give it a shot though.
