Walking the streets of the Dominican Republic more than often you’ll see the children barefoot, playing baseball with sugar cane sticks and mango fruit or chasing dogs around while their laughter cancels out the bachata music and sound of motorcycles passing by.Though poverty is everywhere, we have to start somewhere. In a country like the Dominican Republic the outlets and programs aren’t sufficient enough to help them even balance living day to day. Here it is not shocking to see 5 Star all inclusive resorts just across the street from some of the poorest communities in the country. Most of the kids have dreams of one day visiting the United States and other countries in the world. Though likely for some of them that will never happen, by helping us raise money to establish programs in the community center we can dedicate funds towards teaching them English, providing tutoring and pro-environment engagements. We can change the place they call home right before their very eyes and provide an infinite amount of opportunities for not only the children but their families as well. For the children of Muñoz, I want them to be reminded they are loved and by giving them a chance they will be reminded by such acts and spread the wealth behind being kind throughout the rest of their lives. Our big project goal is to fund and establish the youth league baseball team, as well as provide equipment. Our collateral goal is to raise enough money to add on to the community center and fund its refurbishing.
